Ann Marie Tommey MD

Who I Am

I was trained as an Obstetrican and Gynecologist finishing residency training in 1993. From that time until 2004 I had a thriving, growing practice. I was drawn to incorporate alternative and complementary medical practices into my work and starting in 2005 I shifted my practice from Ob/Gyn to Preventative and Regenerative Medicine. In this practice, I see a variety of men and women of all ages who are interested in a new paradigm for health and well being.  This new paradigm encompasses the feeling state of life force fully inhabiting the body. Many do not have this language to describe what they are looking for but all come to me to find a natural path to feeling healthy, calm and able to cope with life stresses. This desired state of health opens the door to increases in joy and vitality.

Life fully felt in the body is characterized by a deep sense of peace highlighted by moments of deep joy or bliss. To facilitate people in coming home to this natural way of being I employ the use of life practices, customized nutriceutical supplements and bio-identical or natural hormones. Each individuals current hormonal status is evaluated through a combination of laboratory analysis and detailed personal history.  This information, coupled with my years of expertise allow us to formulate a unique treatment plan. The goal with utilization of these supportive treatments is to open the body to experience more fully its natural state of being.  I will coach individuals to increase awareness of their day to day lives and to find their own unique path to feeling fully alive in their bodies.  When one commits to this life practice it feels natural to share this place of hope and encouragement with everyone in their lives. This is the new paradigm of health and it is available to every human being. Join us now!

Life issues that frequently draw people to my practice and the quest for this new paradigm of health include; menopause, andropause, puberty, thyroid issues, sexual difficulties, fatigue, insomnia , weight management, adrenal fatigue, mood disorders and stress management. A new breed of client to walk through my doors are those who feel the discomfort of just surviving in an ordinary, “normal” life. These brave souls want to feel as good as they possibly can, not just to live a long, healthy life but to serve the world and share their good fortune as best they can. So whether there is currently a problem that motivates change or simply a desire to feel fully alive, the service I feel honored to provide is the ability to hold your vision of who you truly are and offer support to your physical, mental  and emotional body as you journey towards greater health and well being. You are the greatest gift you have for yourself and all those you love.

Thank you for scheduling a consultation. Here’s what to expect!

Your First Visit: Your initial visit will usually last approximately 1 hour. It consists of an in-depth interview focusing on your current symptoms, your medical history, lifestyle issues and dietary habits. Typically, at the end of the first visit, blood work and other pertinent specialty testing will be ordered.

Follow-Up Visits: the first follow up visit usually takes place 2-3 weeks after your initial appointment and lasts 45-60 minutes. At this time Dr. Tommey will review your test results in detail, perform a focused physical examination as indicated,* and start you on a comprehensive treatment program. The first follow-up visit will also include ample time for you to ask questions and to gain a solid understanding of the treatment plan that has been designed for you.
*If you are female, it is recommended that you bring the report of your most recent gynecological exam/PAP smear, mammogram and bone density test. If you have not had these screening tests Dr. Tommey will be happy to provide you with referrals.
Subsequent follow-up visits vary in length and will be scheduled as necessary, based upon your individual health care needs. In general, the first visit is done in person and follow ups are done by phone or in person.

Scope of Practice: Dr. Tommey’s services are intended to complement those provided by your primary care physician; therefore she does not refill prescriptions from other practitioners nor does she handle urgent or emergency medical situations. Patients are urged to maintain their relationship with their primary physician. If you do not have one, a referral list will be provided.

Appointments may be booked by calling 805-295-6095. Each visit (in person or phone consultation) costs $240 which covers up to 1 hour spent with Dr. Tommey. If more time is needed an additional fee of $65/15minutes will be added. This rate of $65/15minutes will also be charged for time spent by the doctor to fill out special paperwork requested by patients or to answer patients’ questions on the phone.
Once you have scheduled an appointment, you will be asked for your credit card information, in order to book your reservation for the scheduled appointment time. We will not charge your card until the date/time of your appointment. Charges will be billed at the time of service. Checks, cash and VISA, MC are accepted. Please be on time and have all paperwork filled out as charges will begin being billed as of the scheduled appointment time even if you are late or need to use that time to fill out paper work. The cost of laboratory work is not included in the cost of the office or phone visit. Due to the complex nature of Dr. Tommey’s practice she does not bill insurance plans or Medicare. You will be given a superbill or invoice for visits so that you can submit the charges to your insurance for reimbursement. This is not possible with HMO’s or Medicare.

Failure to notify us at least 3 business days in advance will result in your credit card being charged as if you had attended the scheduled appointment. Thank you for your understanding.

“I look forward to working with you!”
Ann Marie Tommey, M.D.
